doTERRA Lip Balm
We have been fighting off nasty viruses for close to 7 weeks now. It is getting really old and really obnoxious. First strep, then some nasty flu, now RSV, and all sorts of weirdness in between. During Christmas vacation, we emptied A LOT of bottles of oils trying to heal ourselves and our family members. Thank goodness for those oils – they prevented A LOT of antibiotic usage. (More on the blends I used to fight them off later…)
When I get sick I get cold sores. When Aunt Flo comes to visit I get cold sores. When I am stressed I get cold sores. When the weather suddenly changes I get cold sores. And when all of these things are happening within a short period of time I get A LOT OF COLD SORES!
Melaleuca
One of the first things that sold me on doTERRA was their Melaleuca. We had always used it at home to heal cold sores and so I was excited to try an amazing brand. It worked, amazingly, but then I discovered that it didn’t always work. So, over time I learned that there are 3 main oils that work for my cold sores – Melaleuca, Lemongrass, and Peppermint. In fact, peppermint seems to help most of all during the stopping phase, though I usually will use it with Melaleuca as well.
Well, my SIL came to visit one day and I couldn’t find the peppermint, so this cold sore was just GROWING and GROWING. It was miserable. Finally, I found my new doTERRA lip balm and put it on, then later put on some Melaleuca and used them both intermittently throughout the day. My cold sore healed up almost immediately. No one knew I had it unless I pointed it out.
About a week later, in the midst of my wretched flu, I woke up with literally 5 or more cold sores across my bottom lip. They weren’t huge yet, but they hurt! I immediately put on my lap balm again and at some point some Melaleuca as well, but mostly stuck to my lip balm all day.
MY HUSBAND
Fast forward to yesterday when I tell Justin about how miraculous this chapstick is and he says “how do you know it prevented cold sores?” And I have to say TO MY HUSBAND “it didn’t prevent them, it healed them!” And if that’s not proof that my doTERRA lip balm worked miracles on my cold sores then I don’t know what is, because no one on this earth gets closer to my lips than my husband. 😉
